Doctors say face shields or glasses in addition to masks will help prevent the spread of COVID-19

August 5, 2020

As ABC reported yesterday evening masks are still the primary way of protection from spreading COVID-19, but now doctors say if you can, you should also be protecting your eyes, like wearing a face shield.

Specifically for the healthcare field, a first responder or in places with close, consistent exposure like in schools face shields are highly recommended. Public health officials continue to put the importance of wearing face masks to slow the spread. However, some now say those face coverings alone might not be enough. We may need additional personal protective equipment.

ABC also confirms that CDC is now warning that there is evidence that people are catching the virus from droplets floating in the air that can enter through your eyes, thus eye covering is necessary for full protection.
